Hey I might have missed it, but did you ever find the bean game online?

There were like 5 of us interested in buying it.

Looks like I can get a 220 card deck for about $26 each.  I can cover yours since I still owe you for ComicCon.  Who else wants one?

Just to clarify, the custom set (with alternate art) I am ordering has 218 cards for 24$ (it looks like)

If you want to buy the commercial version it has 161 cards for $16 on Amazon.

Here's the link to the game so you can see examples of the original art:

Ugh, I was wrong.  The custom deck will be 35 (including shipping).  SiRazor you still in?

Don't feel bad if you want to go the cheap route, we don't get any bulk discount until we order over 5 decks anyway and it's only like 40 cents a deck at that.

Are the pdfs available? It's crossed the line into what it would cost to just get them printed by one of my customers....or at the machine in the office...lol

Yes there is a PDF, but it is setup like the cards I created, each page has a row of fronts and backs and you fold, glue and cutout. There are also individual jpegs if you want to try to set them up in some other setup. The biggest hassle is the cutting out. That and they don't last as long as actual coated playing cards, nor are shuffle friendly.

The download link is in the first post of that thread.

I'll look into this, but I think you underestimate the capabilities of some of my customers machines, and layout abilities. The one I'm thinking about is printing me off a set of wiz war on 170 pound glossy cover. Thickness almost that of cardboard from like a cereal box. Not quite, but it's alot thicker than say, index cards.

I just meant the fold, glue cut method. If you do a layout of fronts and backs two sided on thick paper that has a nice finish, that sounds great. Any chance they'll do extra's? Smile

I think Lobo has claimed that his shop can do stuff like this also.

you might want to throw in a couple of these:
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/26698/bohnanza-infocard-v1jpg

I tossed them into the PrinterStudio layout I made with this text on the back:

Code:
Rules Summary
- Players may never change the order of their cards.
- If a player has one bean field with only one card, he must harvest the other field first.
- 3p: Start with 3 bean fields. No extra field.
- 4p, 5p: Start with 2 fields. 3rd costs 3 gold.
- 6p, 7p: Start with 2 fields. 3rd costs 2 gold.
- Gold for 3rd field goes to the discard pile.
Turn
1. Must plant 1st bean; may plant 2nd bean.
2. Turn over two cards from the draw deck and start trading.
- All trading must involve the active player.
- The active player may trade beans from his hand.
- All traded beans must be planted at once.
- If no one wants the turned over cards, the active player must plant them himself.
3. 3p  5p: Draw 3 cards; 6p, 7p: Draw 4
Game ends when
- 3p: Draw deck exhausted for the 2nd time.
- 4p  7p: Draw deck exhausted 3rd time.
- If only one card is left during the trading step, trade it before ending the game.

If they can only do one extra deck though, don't worry about it cuz I owe HPD so I'll just grab us a couple from PrinterStudio (and anyone else who wants to pay double for better art and more cards!)

I've submitted the file to my printer, who is more than happy to price out what it would cost per set, and get back to me. He can put them on 140 pound glossy lace finish cover stock, and will actually be heavier than playing cards, with two exceptions. They won't be coated, and will have square corners.

If the lack of coating and square corners isn't what you looking for? No matter the cost (I know some can get a bit anal about games) then I would suggest ordering them from your other source. I'm going to wait and see what kind of price I get from my guy first. I'll bet it's considerably cheaper.

If the price is right it sounds like a reasonable compromise. Not quite playing cards, but much better than what I am using currently. I'll wait to hear what he tells you.

I'm with you on this one too. If it's economically viable I am in.
I presume that the best option outside of this potential 170lb glossy is the real deal?
and that's $16 per 161?

Above cost, playability is key for me.
The cards you had were those cut and paste? If so that is not bad at all.

Also, I am going to look into a possible freebie.

Buy several decks of cheap playing cards..
transfer film for laserjet color (will see IF there is an injet version) that is pre-cut
Peel and stick. Done.  also playability is not compromised at all.

If I can't find anything suitable then maybe go with 8.5"x11" adhesive paper. It's essentially a huge sticker. Then use your favorite method of cutting, peel and stick.

Yeah, they were print, fold, glue, paste.  They have worked fine for now, but they are starting to separate a bit.  They also have no coating at all, so they can stain, though most of the kids I have played it with have been good about keeping their hands clean, even camping.

I haven't priced it out lately, but I found that even using cheap playing cards using cheap laser labels gets expensive pretty quick when you are talking 161-218 cards. The commercial game at $16 is hard to beat. If you want the upgraded art, finding an economical source is a challenge.

I have a few games where I made the cards myself and they usually fine until they get alot of play.

Not as of yet. He is simply too busy with his regular work. You may just want to go elsewhere, after all its not THAT expensive.

I no longer work at the company, so I don't see my contact anymore. Sorry, dropped the ball on this. I still have the files, however.
