PostSubject: Mar 27th Game Night   Tue 16 Feb 2010, 09:45

Time: Start Noon til midnight
Game Menu:
Act I: Blood Bowl Tournament (Tentative, depending on whether we have an even number of players). See notes for details.
Act II: TBD (Will not occur if we have a tournament)

Confirmed attendees so far:
Fish (his house after all)
TheChin!
HighPlainsDrifter

Confirmed non-attendees:
RDaneel (as to be expected as he is residenced in TX now)
RandyG (stuck in Akron w/no car, homeless crack-head)

Unknown Status:
yermother
Diabolis
Lamer
Tom
Stroop
Lobo
Techisattva

Notes: Blood Bowl Tourney. I'm thinking we each play each other once, with simultaneous games occurring. Fish's table is big enough I expect, the game board isn't that huge, we should be able to have 2-3 going based on number of people who show. I'm not sure, in the very unlikely event, we could handel 8 people with 4 simultaneous games unless we setup a card table or somebody played on the bookcase outrcropping/bar thingie. Even then, 8 people would probably require splitting up into 2 conferences or splitting the tournaments over 2 game nights, which is no problem really so nobody should feel like they shouldn't come, the more the merrier!. After everybody plays each other once (in the case of conferences, each person in your own conference), we'll play Bowl games based on record. (4 players - 2 Bowl Games (Super & Toilet), 6 players - 3 Bowl Games (Super, Boring, Toilet). Team members will carry over injuries and status between games as per game rules.

The latest version of the game normally is played with expensive miniatures but I have paper mini's for the game from a very early version. We will use the Turf edition ruleset, available here: Rule Book Download Page, in case you want to pre-read or skim the rules before hand. It may seem a little bit much at first, but it will really click by the second game. Here is a basic strategy guide: Fan Strategy Guide

The downside to this, if we do it, will be that we will HAVE to start at noon and late-comers will not be welcome. I'll add more details as I figure them out. Any ideas or objections are welcome.

If you have any requests or comments, post away.

Teams I Have Counters (Mostly) For
Elf/High Elf: I have one set of Elves, so only one team from these choices (see Wood Elf in next section).
Undead
Slann
Orc - Lobo
Nurgle - TheChin!
Norse
Human - Tentative Stroop
Halfling
Goblin
Dwarf
Dark Elf
Chaos Dwarf

Teams I Have Counters For, but need to print
Chaos
Vampire
Skaven
Amazon
Lizardman
Khemri
Wood Elf
Necromantic

Teams I Could Fake With Proxies
Ogre (we have Ogres, but Snotlings would have to come from L. Goblins)

Teams we could proxy from other teams if enough counters were not used
Underworld
Chaos Pact

I'm thinking that we all start with rookie teams, no star players. After the first game, if you have the money you can hire a star player.

Also, if you want to real a lot of background material on Blood Bowl, the teams and their various members check out the last available version (5) of the Living Rule Book from Games Workshop. Here is a link: LRB5. It's a nice looking rulebook, and in reality is the rulebook I posted pre-edit with minor rule changes (making it version 6) and all the descriptive stuff added back in. The Tournament Rulebook from GW that is currently available is a trimmed down printer friendly "just-the-rules" affair. You can still see that version here: Competition Rules

The Turf edition we will be using is the latest rules "including all official corrections, clarifications and FAQs". It has some of the background, but not as much as the LRB. It seems to be a good playable reference. The LRB is good if you want to really get into the theme more. Download all three for all I care, but the Turf Rules will be used for all final judgements.

It's the white word 'Link' after Team Play Books (Strategy Guides) in original post. Whenever I add a post with 'Edit' in it, it means I edited the first post.
